Pagan groups send press packet to Associated
Press
Several Pagan organizations cooperated to
produce a press kit which was sent to the
Associated Press for inclusion in the AP Stylebook.
The Stylebook, often called the "journalist's
bible," is the standard reference for journalists
in determining terms, titles, correct spelling,
etc. The press kit effort, led by the Pagan
Educational Network, resulted in concise
definitions of Paganism and Wicca, an extensive
glossary of terms, and a listing of Pagan contacts
and resources. Co-signing the letter to the AP were
representatives of PEN, the Aquarian Tabernacle
Church, Ar nDraíocht Fein, The Brideswell
Collective, Celestial Teaching Center, Celtic
Traditionalist Order of Druids, Covenant of
Unitarian Universalist Pagans, The Henge of
Keltria, Jane's Tidings, Wiccan Community Fund,
WindTree Ranch, and Witches' Anti-Discrimination
League.
The
organizations involved have decided to send similar
kits to other news organizations. Covenant of the
Goddess, Witches' League for Public Awareness, and
The Third Road will be co-signing these future
kits. It is hoped that through consistent,
coordinated effort, Pagan faiths will be treated
respectfully by the media.
